At eevo, our mission is to empower the next generation of publishers, content creators and storytellers to build amazing VR experiences by democratizing the creation and distribution of streamable VR content.

We have opened up access to our interactivity toolset, so the general VR community can build awesome VR experiences. To get started, click here to request an invite and begin telling your stories.

We want to use this post to demonstrate how easy it is to create engaging interactive VR content using the eevo system. Unlike an game engine, eevo requires no knowledge of any programming languages, just the ability to dream (and drag and drop).

1. Upload Your 360 Video Assets

Once you are granted an account, upload your existing 360 video and audio assets to the Composer and let’s begin. The eevo composer gives you the ability to link video and audio assets to create ambitious interactive narratives.

Uploading 360 video files to EEVO’s online tool the composer

The eevo platform supports the vast majority of video and audio formats and once a file is uploaded, it is automatically encoded by our backend. In addition, the eevo system supports major spatial audio formats including EPP, Point Audio, and Ambisonics with even more support in development.

Once you have uploaded your assets it’s time to move to the next stage and create interactivity.

2. Create Interactions Between Videos

In eevo’s composer, you can use exit flags to control and link 360 video files and create transitions between them. Exit flags can easily be made by right clicking on the bottom of a node and selecting “New Exit Flag”. You can then drag a line between your two 360 videos to connect them.

3. Add VR Hotspots

A hotspot creates an invisible zone in the 360 video that triggers a new video to play when a user looks at it. Using the preview editor, you can drag and drop your hotspots in your 360 video.

Here hotspots are being added on to three arches in the 360 video. This creates a scene where a viewer of the content can choose to look at any arch and travel through it. The 360 videos will transition seamlessly between themselves when a user loads the hotspot in the first.

3. Review and Publish Your Content

Once you have composed your narrative, previewing your work is easy. Simply link your creator account to the eevo app (available on Android and iOS) and you can instantly stream your narrative to your device. If you want to launch your own custom app for your content, sign up here. To watch this completed project you can download the eevo app now and check it out.

When you’re ready to publish your narrative, it can be done with just 3 clicks. Submit, publish, and release. Congrats, now your narrative is published for anyone on your account to view!
